“Would you like to read a story that will inspire you? Do you want to have a wonderful experience in one day? The experience of boundless love? Would you like to spiritually grow and visit the wondrous place from this story? You will experience all of this in the book Lovrečina. Finally available in English.”
• Cove Lovrečina is located on the central Dalmatian island of Brač near the town of Postira in Croatia.
• The history of this cove is evidenced by the remains of the basilica of St. Lawrence from the 5th-6th century, precisely when the story of the book unfolds.
• The Basilica of St. Lawrence is a single-nave church with a transept and a semicircular apse. In a series of auxiliary rooms to the north, there is a baptistery with a cross-shaped baptismal font (raised above the floor) and a stone ciborium (supported by four columns with capitals and stone beams).
• Remains of frescoes and stucco have been found.
• Local findings indicate a developed Roman and later Greek economy.
• The monastery and basilica belonged to the Benedictines.
• In the 13th century, the monastery and basilica were devastated and abandoned, never to be restored.
• The Late Antique complex of buildings continued to play a role in the Christian community even after being abandoned. Today, pilgrims from nearby Brač towns come here on the feast day of St. Lawrence, August 10.
• The Early Christian Basilica of St. Lawrence in cove Lovrečina is a protected cultural heritage site.
